The Preparatory Deputy Group on organization of the first session of the Parliament of the new convocation chose Volodymyr Lytvyn its Head.
The first meeting of the Preparatory Deputy Group responsible for holding the grand meeting of the first session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the seventh convocation and plenary meetings of the new session was held on Thursday.
Volodymyr Lytvyn, current Chairman of the Parliament, was elected the Head of the Preparatory Deputy Group. 16 members of the Preparatory Group voted for such a decision. Representatives from the opposing forces (12 members of the Preparatory Group) did not participate in voting, since they have left the session hall before, due to disagreement with the agenda of the meeting. Having thanked his fellow deputies for their trust, V.Lytvyn abstained from voting.
Thereat, V.Lytvyn stressed that “the deputy chairman and the secretary of the Preparatory Group shouldn’t be elected, since they should represent different political forces that entered the new Parliament”. He also stressed that “in order to deepen the compromise, there is, anyway, a need to search approaches”. He said that “political decisions should be considered and adopted only jointly”
V.Lytvyn adjourned the meeting until November 23, 4 p.m.
